From Corponrate, to Climb, to Concert to conflict...
Prior to my emergence in photography I spent most of my career in the computer sciences and rose through the ranks from installing my first cable in the 1980's to Senior Data Architect for Catepillar. But there comes a time for change and after the downsizings in 2009 i decided it was time. During that time I was also heavily involved in high altitude climbing and finished my career with a 7th summit on Mount Elbrus in Russia.
Photography was a fluke. I got my first camera, a Sony Alpha 200 in May of 2009 - and two weeks later was asked to shoot my first concert. And I waded into the media pit admist 20,000 fants in torrential rain - and shot 22 bands on 2 stages for 11 hours in torrential rains at Edgefest. And its been nonstop ever since.
The G20 riot of 2010 was by far the toughest assignment I ever had, up close and personal on the battle line for 3 days. Bruised, tear gassed, shot at, and run over - my first experience in photojournalism and some of my best work (which I still have to post).
I can't wait to explore new directions; I'm inspired by everything from V. Tony Haus to the performing arts genius of Louis Greenfield. I am still a neophyte and there is so much to learn and explore.
